Besides pointing out how gravely dangerous NutraSweet is, the leaked email also shows the treachery involved in getting the adulterant approved as a food ingredient. According to Wise Mind Healthy Body, an email chain was forwarded to Podesta by a Wendy Abrams, in which she writes, “I also have a friend who worked for the researchers at University of Chicago (which has a top rated neurology dept) and the doctors there said when they gave nutrasweet to lab mice, it literally blew holes in their brains. They said they will tell a pregnant woman to drink any amount of alcohol before touching a sip of nutrasweet, it is that bad.”

In back and forth emails between Abrams and a man named Don Kennedy, the latter explains how aspartame came to be legalized:

“He explains that the day after Ronald Reagan’s inauguration, January 21, 1981, Searle – the original developer of aspartame – applied to the FDA for approval to use aspartame in food sweetener for a second time [aspartame was previously banned]. Arthur Hayes Hull, Jr., Reagan’s newly appointed FDA commissioner, proceeded to appoint a 5-person scientific commission to review the board of inquiry’s decision. When it became clear that the panel was going to uphold the ban with a 3–2 decision, Hull placed a sixth member on the commission so the vote would become deadlocked. Then Hull personally broke the tie in aspartame’s favor.”

If aspartame is unfit for human consumption, why is it added to thousands of products?

Mission Possible World Health International is a comprehensive resource on the subject of aspartame. Its founder, Dr. Betty Martini, has dedicated many years to exposing the dangers of this ubiquitous chemical. Here is a sample of the information available on the website:

1. An FDA report lists 92 documented symptoms of aspartame ingestion, including depression, anxiety, memory loss, fatigue, headaches, vertigo, irritability, insomnia, weight gain, palpitations, sexual dysfunction, loss of taste, weakness, joint pain, numbness, dizziness, tinnitus, blurry vision, rashes, seizures and blindness.

2. Conditions associated with aspartame use include multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, Gulf War syndrome, Alzheimer’s disease, Grave’s disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, mental retardation, lymphoma, lupus, DNA damage, birth defects and even death.

3. Aspartame is an addictive, neurotoxic, teratogenic, carcinogenic and excitotoxic substance that has no rightful place in our diets.

Life is not all ‘rainbows and moonbeams,’ and bad people do bad things

It is easy to understand that greed and corruption are sufficient to explain why our food supply is loaded with poisons like aspartame. Collusion between Big Government and Big Pharma is a fact of life. A case in point: Donald Rumsfeld, who has held high posts in successive administrations, was chairman of Searle at the time the FDA approved NutraSweet. But is there a deeper, more sinister layer to the controversy? After all, if the powers that be can get us to gladly and willingly pay for chemical-laden foodstuffs that ruin our health and damage our brains, our source of reasoning power, would that not be a way to more easily control the populace to comply with a globalist agenda? A sick and weakened people dependent on external support is what we have become, but a healthy and robust people that is self-reliant and can forge their own path, a people that can resist the pressures of collectivism, is a people to be respected and feared. There is no doubt of that. After viewing the documentary, Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World, hopefully you will swear off aspartame for good.

Aspartame in diet soda linked to significant health issues, tumors /aspartamenews/2017-01-23-aspartame-linked-to-health-issues-tumors-diet-soda.htmlv Mon, 23 Jan 2017 06:08:06 +0000 http://162.244.66.231/aspartamenews/2017-01-23-aspartame-linked-to-health-issues-tumors-diet-soda.htmlv They’re a popular mealtime beverage for millions of people who believe that by drinking them, they’re avoiding the pitfalls of sugar consumption. But diet soda pop is neither healthy nor safe, as research continues to show that its primary sweetening constituent in most cases, aspartame, is a damaging neurotoxin that can lead to a host of chronic health issues, including cancer.

The largest study of its kind ever conducted on aspartame was put together by researchers from the University of Iowa. They looked at 60,000 women who consumed aspartame-laden diet beverages over the course of 10 years and found that those who consume two or more diet drinks per day are significantly more prone than other women to develop cardiovascular disease — and to die from it.

The paper compared the health outcomes of women who consume diet beverages to those who don’t, observing that those who do are 30 percent more likely to suffer some kind of cardiovascular event such as a heart attack or stroke. Among those who suffer such a fate, those who consume aspartame are 50 percent more likely to die from it compared to non-diet beverage drinkers. (Related: Learn about other toxic ingredients at Ingredients.news)

Dr. Ankur Vyas, lead investigator of the study, noted that this is one of the largest studies ever to look at aspartame, and that the findings are “consistent with some previous data, especially those linking diet drinks to metabolic syndrome.”

“On average, women who consumed two or more diet drinks a day were younger, more likely to be smokers, and had a higher prevalence of diabetes, high blood pressure, and higher body mass index,” the paper explained.

Aspartame, artificial sweeteners make people fat

It is hardly surprising, then, that diet soda sales have continued to plummet year after year as research such as this continues to emerge. Folks are waking up to the dangers of aspartame and switching to healthier alternatives like local honey and stevia extract. Not only is aspartame dangerous in these many ways, but it doesn’t even do the one thing that most people falsely believe it does — help them to lose weight.

There are a number of reasons for this, not the least of which include the fact that artificial sweeteners like aspartame do not activate the food rewards pathway in the brain that tells people that they’re full, and that it’s time to stop eating. Instead, diet soda consumers can chug can after can, and bottle after bottle, of their favorite chemical-laced soft drink and simply not stop.

Aspartame specifically has also been shown in studies to actually make people more hungry than if they simply consumed sugar. Since anything that tastes sweet enhances appetite, the hunger-promoting effects of aspartame end up leading people who consume it to also consume other foods — and lots of them!

There is also evidence to suggest that consuming aspartame increases fat storage in the body. Since phenylalanine and aspartate, the two chemical components of aspartame, interfere with insulin and leptin, both of which control how fat is handled by the body, their consumption actually causes people to pack on more pounds rather than shed them.

And then there’s the science suggesting that aspartame could increase the risk of brain tumors. A 1996 study published in the Journal of Neuropathology & Experimental Neurology identified a strong correlation between aspartame consumption and brain tumors in mice, leading the researchers of that study to conclude that “there is need for reassessing the carcinogenic potential of aspartame.”

GROSS: Conventional dairy corporations hope to add aspartame as part of what defines ‘milk’ /aspartamenews/2016-07-21-gross-conventional-dairy-corporations-hope-to-add-aspartame-as-part-of-what-defines-milk.htmlv Thu, 21 Jul 2016 15:57:31 +0000 http://162.244.66.231/aspartamenews/2016-07-21-gross-conventional-dairy-corporations-hope-to-add-aspartame-as-part-of-what-defines-milk.htmlv Let’s just get the truth out about aspartame. Jim Turner is a lawyer who has spent decades educating people about this dangerous and ubiquitous sugar substitute. Mr. Turner was instrumental in keeping aspartame off the market until 1981, when Searle company president Donald Rumsfeld forced its approval via President Reagan’s transition team. Read the sordid history here.

Regardless of the truth, however, the insidious aspartame has been used in hundreds of products, including milk. Even PBS tried to debunk aspartame’s toxin’s as a myth. And in the FDA definition of “milk,” they include “natural and artificial food flavorings.” That means they can add aspartame. And you don’t know it.

Natural News states, “Whether it is due to increasing allergies or a simple distaste for its processed flavor, conventional milk sales have dropped . . . 25 percent in the U.S. since 1975 . . .  So the National Milk Producers Federation and the International Dairy Foods Association  [fought to] redefine the word “milk” to include other things like artificially flavored and sweetened chocolate and strawberry milk beverages. . .

Aspartame, which is perhaps the most well-known artificial sweetener in the world, has been repeatedly shown to cause chronic headaches, neurological damage, cancer and, yes, even weight gain and obesity, the very things it is marketed as supposedly combating.”

But if you don’t know aspartame is in your milk, it won’t hurt, right? Wrong.

Natural News reports, “Dr. Janet Starr Hull, author of the book Sweet Poison: ‘How the World’s Most Popular Artificial Sweetener is Killing Us’ says, ‘The research and history of aspartame is conclusive as a cause of illness and toxic reactions in the human body.'”

The FDA wants to redefine milk, “natural “and if nuts are healthy too. Time to support your local farmer’s food and their bovines, yes?

Popular children’s vitamin brand full of GMOs, aspartame and other deadly ingredients /aspartamenews/2016-06-20-childrens-vitamin-brand-full-of-gmos-aspartame-and-other-deadly-ingredients.htmlv Mon, 20 Jun 2016 15:00:57 +0000 http://162.244.66.231/aspartamenews/2016-06-20-childrens-vitamin-brand-full-of-gmos-aspartame-and-other-deadly-ingredients.htmlv When you buy a vitamin for your child, its because you want them to be healthy. Unfortunately, even children’s multivitamins are not always safe for consumption. You’d think there would be some shred of ethics behind these giant corporations, but even products solely designed for children are often riddled with toxic chemicals.

Such is the case with the iconic Flintstone’s Vitamins. Indeed, the popular children’s vitamin is laced with aspartame, aluminum, petroleum-based artificial colors and a myriad of other potentially-toxic additives. And this is what we give to children? One would think that the name “multivitamin” would bear some kind of influence on what was within the product, that it would contain wholesome, natural ingredients meant for boosting overall health. Instead, what we find within a simple Flintstone’s vitamin is much more sinister.

In addition to the GMO-derived ingredients, the vitamin manufacturer — pharmaceutical giant Bayer — spares no one with its veritable kitchen sink of food additives and toxins. Sorbitol, refined sugars, hydrogenated soy bean oil and ferrous fumarate also make an appearance along the quite lengthy list of items within just one serving of the children’s vitamin. Most of the supposed vitamins and minerals used in the product are made from synthetic, not food-based, sources. This means that the bioavailability of such nutrients is very low, and hardly worth the risks associated with many of the ingredients.

Some of the ingredients, such as cupric oxide, are actually quite toxic. Cupric oxide is listed as a nutritional source of copper on the Flintstones vitamin label, but the European Union’s (EU) Dangerous Substance Directive has identified this very same ingredient and classified it as a “hazardous substance.” Zinc oxide is another problematic ingredient found in these “multivitamins.” Zinc oxide is often added to sunscreen products, but is yet another substance that has been identified as “harmful to the environment” by the EU. It is a rather poor choice as a nutritional source of zinc to begin with, but if it’s toxic to the environment, do you think it might be harmful to children?

Many people are growing increasingly aware of the neurotoxic effects of aspartame and the damaging effects of artificial colors in humans, but these effects are especially pronounced in children. Artificial colors, for instance, are associated with the onset of attention deficit disorder (ADD) and other behavioral disorders in children. Does this really sound like a vitamin to you?

Aspartame is a hidden schedule II narcotic /aspartamenews/2016-06-03-aspartame-is-a-hidden-schedule-ii-narcotic.htmlv Fri, 03 Jun 2016 03:16:35 +0000 http://162.244.66.231/aspartamenews/2016-06-03-aspartame-is-a-hidden-schedule-ii-narcotic.htmlv

(NaturalNews) You’re probably thinking, “Did I read the headline right?” or maybe, “Is the headline right?”The answer to both questions is “yes.” Artificial sweetener aspartame is indeed a Schedule II narcotic, because the methanol in aspartame affects dopamine levels in the brain, which can lead to addiction. Methanol, or wood alcohol, is classified as a severe metabolic poison.

Furthermore, aspartame is a dipeptide molecule that is produced by joining phenylalanine and aspartic acid. Obviously, then, aspartame does not occur naturally, but instead is a manufactured substance. When it is consumed, it is broken down completely by digestive system enzymes into two amino acids – and a type of alcohol known as methanol.

What does it mean for methanol to be a Schedule II narcotic? As reported by Sarah Barendse:

“Schedule II substances have high abuse potential and severe psychological and/or physical dependence liability. Examples of schedule II substances include narcotics, amphetamines, and barbiturates. Prescriptions for schedule II substances can never be ordered with refills and must be filled within 7 days of the date originally written.”

Three quarters of reported adverse reactions to food additives attributed to aspartame

Nonetheless, millions of Americans buy diet soda containing aspartame, and are even encouraged to drink it because diet sodas are marketed as health products.

According to independent researchers and experts, aspartame can cause a variety of symptoms including, but not limited to, headaches, memory loss, vision loss, depression, seizures, coma, cancer and other conditions. It can also mimic symptoms of diseases like MS, lupus, attention deficit disorder, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.

This man-made compound can also be dangerous if you consume it while taking certain medications, or if you eat processed foods containing monosodium glutamate (MSG). It also induces cravings for carbohydrates which summarily leads to weight gain.

As Natural News has reported, there are many reasons why aspartame is dangerous:

“75 percent of reported adverse reaction to food additives is attributed to aspartame. Of these reactions, many are serious and include seizures and death. A number of the 90 documented symptoms as reportedly caused by aspartame are headaches/migraines, dizziness, seizures, nausea, numbness, rashes, depression, irritability, insomnia, hearing loss, vision problems, loss of taste vertigo and memory loss.

“Those who study the adverse effects of aspartame report that the following medical conditions are triggered or worsened by aspartame: brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, mental retardation, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, lymphoma, birth defects, diabetes and fibromyalgia.”

It slowly begins to destroy neurons

Russell Blaylock, a former neurosurgery professor at the Medical University of Mississippi who now does nutritional studies and research, has described aspartic acid as an isolated amino acid equally as toxic as glutamate. Aspartic acid is an excitotoxin, he says, a chemical that excites the brain sometimes to the point of death. In addition, it changes the manner of brain formation in newborns, which can result in permanent hyperactivity and other behavioral changes.

“In its free form, unbound from proteins, it significantly raises the plasma level shortly after ingestion. The excess aspartate in the blood shortly after ingestion leads to high levels in certain areas of the brain,” we previously reported. “It slowly begins to destroy neurons and a large part of neural cells in a particular area of a brain are destroyed before any clinical symptom of an illness is noticed. Reported physical effects after long exposure to excitatory amino acid include Parkinson’s disease, brain lesions, neuroendocrine disorders and hypoglycemia to mention a few.”

U.S. Dairy industry petitions to secretly add chemical sweeteners (aspartame, sucralose) to products – without labeling them /aspartamenews/2016-04-20-u-s-dairy-industry-petitions-to-secretly-add-chemical-sweeteners-such-as-aspartame-and-sucralose-to-milk-yogurt-cream-without-labeling-them.htmlv Wed, 20 Apr 2016 15:25:47 +0000 http://162.244.66.231/aspartamenews/2016-04-20-u-s-dairy-industry-petitions-to-secretly-add-chemical-sweeteners-such-as-aspartame-and-sucralose-to-milk-yogurt-cream-without-labeling-them.htmlv As regular readers of NaturalNews are aware, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration doesn’t have our best interests at heart when it comes to setting food and drug policies. Part of the reason for that is because the agency is populated with big government sycophants who believe their mission in life is to control everything you do as it relates to their agency. The other reason is because, as part of the massive federal bureaucracy, the agency is beholden to a president who usually has more than a few political favors to return to top donors once he gets in office.

As an example of the FDA’s war on your food and drug rights, NaturalNews editor Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, reported in February 2013 that not only had the agency essentially declared war on raw milk, even helping to fund and coordinate armed government raids against raw milk farmers and distributors, but FDA officials began entertaining a petition filed by the International Dairy Foods Association and the National Milk Producers Federation – both lobbying groups for Big Dairy – asking for an alteration of the definition of “milk.”

Learn more about what the government is doing to hijack your food and drug freedoms, as well as solutions to the problem, at the Food Revolution Summit! Sign up for FREE here!

Why would they want to do that? So that they could secretly taint it with chemical sweeteners like aspartame and sucralose.

“Importantly,” Adams noted, “none of these additives need to be listed on the label. They will simply be swept under the definition of ‘milk,’ so that when a company lists ‘milk’ on the label, it automatically includes aspartame or sucralose. And if you’re trying to avoid aspartame, you’ll have no way of doing so because it won’t be listed on the label.”

Nice, huh? The fact that the FDA would even entertain such an outrageous proposal tells you everything you need to know about where the agency’s focus lies, and here’s a hint: It’s not with the American consumer.

But it got worse. Adams noted that the petition was not just targeting milk; it also included yogurt, cream, sour cream, eggnog, whipping cream and many others for a total of 17 products all of which are listed in the petition at FDA.gov.

As the petition stated:

IDFA and NMPF request their proposed amendments to the milk standard of identity to allow optional characterizing flavoring ingredients used in milk (e.g., chocolate flavoring added to milk) to be sweetened with any safe and suitable sweetener — including non-nutritive sweeteners such as aspartame.”

The purpose of this outrageous chicanery? Well, to make milk safer for children – the whole fewer calories with aspartame argument. Never mind all of the nasty unhealthy side effects from the artificial sweetener.

In their petition, the dairy industry engaged in a tremendous amount of doublespeak logic by actually arguing that aspartame should be hidden from consumers by not listing it on the label, if you can believe that. Here’s what said:

IDFA and NMPF argue that nutrient content claims such as “reduced calorie” are not attractive to children, and maintain that consumers can more easily identify the overall nutritional value of milk products that are flavored with non-nutritive sweeteners if the labels do not include such claims. Further, the petitioners assert that consumers do not recognize milk — including flavored milk — as necessarily containing sugar. Accordingly, the petitioners state that milk flavored with non-nutritive sweeteners should be labeled as milk without further claims so that consumers can “more easily identify its overall nutritional value.”

If you’re like tens of millions of Americans and you’ve had enough of this food-and-drug debauchery, there is something you can do about it – namely educate yourself and others by signing up for the Food Revolution Summit, a series of informative seminars you can attend online for free beginning April 30 through May 8.

Diet soda’s Aspartame now associated with cardiovascular issues in addition to brain tumors, non-Hodgkin lymphoma and kidney function decrease /aspartamenews/2016-04-14-diet-sodas-aspartame-now-associated-with-cardiovascular-issues-in-addition-to-brain-tumors-non-hodgkin-lymphoma-and-kidney-function-decrease.htmlv Thu, 14 Apr 2016 20:36:24 +0000 http://162.244.66.231/aspartamenews/2016-04-14-diet-sodas-aspartame-now-associated-with-cardiovascular-issues-in-addition-to-brain-tumors-non-hodgkin-lymphoma-and-kidney-function-decrease.htmlv Are you still thirsty? Or just addicted to this toxic chemical? Well, here’s another reason why you ought to refuse to pour this poison cocktail down your esophagus.

According to an article in Collective Evolution, researchers at the University of Iowa have been taking another look at aspartame, although I really don’t know why they need any more proof of it’s toxicity. It was kept off the market until 1981, thanks to the consumer advocate and lawyer James Turner.

60,000 women took part in the research and here’s what they found:

“Women who consumed two or more diet drinks a day are 30 percent more likely to experience a cardiovascular event, and 50 percent more likely to die from a related disease.”

Of course the folks who created this study have merely called for more research:

“‘It’s too soon to tell people to change their behaviour based on this study; however, based on these and other findings we have a responsibility to do more research to see what is going on and further define the relationship, if one truly exists,’ says Dr. Ankur Vyas, because ‘This could have major public health implications.’”

Hmmm. The major health implication of these neurotoxins were pointed out over four decades ago. Since it was ole Donald Rumsfeld who commandeered this poison into the food supply, a quote from the liar himself might be appropriate.

That aspartame is a toxic poison is what Donald would call a “known known”, don’t you think?
